There’s nothing mythical about the Mermaid Inn - a country village pub as real, honest and traditional as they come!
About us
The name was changed to 'The Mermaid Inn' when Sir John Prestige acquired the estate, as a mermaid features in his family coat of arms, which can be seen on our sign!
Landlady Emma, born and bred in the village, starter her Mermaid journey long before she was allowed in the bar - sat outside with a lemonade and a packet of crisps while her Nan worked the afternoon shift.
Always promising a warm, friendly welcome, it is the beating heart of local life in Bishopsbourne, a charming village just 5 miles outside Canterbury.
Our outside spaces
When the weather obliges, you can escape to our gorgeous garden to enjoy your drink al fresco, where lush greenery meets the gentle sounds of nature. The perfect backdrop for leisurely afternoons spent savouring refreshing drinks.
